چکیده

Materials and Methods: Peak systolic velocity and end diastolic velocity were measured by the duplex Doppler ultrasonography in the anterior and median cerebral arteries in 60 asphyxiated and 50 healty term infants in the first five days of life. Resistive index and pulsatility index values were calculated. T test and Mann-Whitney test was used for statistical analysis to compare asphy xiated and healthy infants.

Blood flow velocities in the anterior cerebral artery and basilar artery in asphyxiated infants.

OBJECTIVE The aim of this series was to determine whether cerebral blood flow velocities (CBFVs) in the anterior cerebral artery (ACA) and basilar artery (BA) correlate with the severity of asphyxia in infants and whether these velocity measures can be useful for predicting early developmental prognosis. METHODS We measured CBFVs in the ACA and BA by using pulsed Doppler sonography in 29 heal...

A survey of intracranial blood flow velocity in thalassemia intermedia in Khuzestan Province, Iran

Background: Beta-thalassemia intermedia (BTI) is a type of hemoglobinopathy with an increased risk of cerebrovascular accidents, and transcranial cerebral Doppler ultrasonography (TCD) through determining the mean cerebral blood flow velocity (CBFV) can serve to predict the risk of a developing stroke. This study aims to compare patients with beta-thalassemia intermedia and healthy individuals ...

ارزش پیشگویی کننده تعداد گلبول های قرمز هسته دار در خون بند ناف و خون محیطی نوزادان رسیده ی مبتلا به آسفیکسی در هفته اول تولد

Introduction: Increased numbers of nucleated red blood cells (NRBC) circulating in the blood of neonates can be associated with relative hypoxia and adverse outcomes. Thus, the aim of this study was to assess the NRBC count during the first week of life in neonates diagnosed with asphyxia as compared to healthy neonates and to determine the short-term morbidity and mortality for the affected ba...

I-46: Obstetrical Doppler

Accurate assessment of gestational age, fetal growth, and the detection of fetal and placental abnormalities are major benefits of sonography. Color Doppler can be used to assist in the identification of vascular architecture, detection of vascular pathology and visualization of blood flow changes associated with physiologic processes and disease states. The clinical applications of obstetrical...

Abnormal cerebral haemodynamics in perinatally asphyxiated neonates related to outcome.

AIM To measure changes in cerebral haemodynamics during the first 24 hours of life following perinatal asphyxia, and relate them to outcome. METHODS Cerebral blood volume (CBV), its response (CBVR) to changes in arterial carbon dioxide tension (PaCO(2)), and cerebral blood flow (CBF) were measured using near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) in 27 term newborn infants with clinical and/or biochemi...
